Swansea City is taking on Manchester United in the first match of the upcoming Premier League season. Not less than 8 players have joined Swansea while David Moyes has taken over in Manchester after Sir Alex Fergusons retirement. Match of the week is between Swansea City and Manchester United.

English Premier League - Round 1
Libery Stadium, Swansea
17 - 08 - 2013 @ 17.30 UK

How are the two teams form?

Swansea City have done well in their pre-season matches winning all 7. Furthermore, the Welsh went through to the next round of the Europa League Qualifications with an 4-0 win over two matches against Malmö FF.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has lost 2 of their 6 pre-season matches and against some rather poor teams. However, Manchester United is known to make some rather weak performances in their pre-season matches.

Swansea still have not won a match against Manchester United, as last season's meetings ended with a draw and three losses.

What will the probable starting XI look?

According to the latest reports Swansea have all players ready for the first match of the season, while Rooney and Powell are doubtful for Manchester United.

Vorm

Rangel - Williams - Chico - Davies

Routledge - Britton - Shelvey - Hernandez

Michu

Bony

van Persie

Kagawa

Nani - Carrick - Cleverley - Zaha

Evra - Ferdinand - Vidic - Jones

De Gea

What to expect from this match?

Swansea have brought in some exciting reinforcements as Wilfried Bony and Jonjo Shelvey, and they will be important if Swansea is to get the same success as last season. However, against a Manchester United team that has not changed much since last season, I only see United as winners of this match. Swansea can only hope that the Manchester United players will have some problems playing under a new manager.

Despite this, I believe we will see a well played match with chances in both ends. Wilfried Bony will do everything to show that Laudrup brought him to the Premier League to score goals, and along with Michu they can be a deadly combination. That said, the defends still looks a little leggy why I believe that Manchester United will win this match with a 3-0 score.

What are the odds?

BETVICTOR offers a 20/21 bet for a Manchester United while a Swansea City match gives a 19/5 at StanJames.

The newly promoted Welsh club has signed the Danish talent.

Cardiff City has just announced that they have reached an agreement with FC Copenhagen for the talented striker Andreas Cornelius. The Dane became the top scorer in the Danish Superliga last season with 18 goals, and has made his breakthrough on the Danish national team while Bendtner has been out.
The talented striker is the third Dane to join the Premier League this summer, as Nicklas Helenius and Jores Okore has joined Aston Villa. The 20-year old has earlier been linked to Everton, Arsenal and both Manchester clubs, but Cardiff City has now signed the player.

According to FCK, the agreed transfer fee is about 65m Danish Kroner (£5.7m).

Both Aalborg Boldspilklub and Aston Villa have confirmed the transfer of Danish striker Nicklas Helenius.

Striker Nicklas Helenius, 22, becomes the second Dane to join Aston Villa this summer as the club completes an estimated £1.2m deal with Aalborg Boldspilklub.

Last season Helenius scored 16 goals in 33 caps in the Danish Superliga and was recognised by UEFA as Danish Superliga player of the season in 2012-13.

Despite the success, the Dane did not expect a transfer to the Premier League this early in his career he admitted to the Aston Villa website:

"I thought that maybe when I was 28 or something I might eventually be able to move to the Premier League having made my mark in Danish football but now I have my chance and I think this is the right club for me with all the other young players in the side who want to do well and achieve something together."

Nicklas Helenius has signed a contract lasting for the next three years.

The day after it was announced that Aston Villa had made a bid for Danish striker Nicklas Helenius, another Dane is reported ready for the club.

According to the reliable source, Danish newspaper Politiken, the Lions has already agreed the fee for Danish national talent Jores Okore, who is travelling to Birmingham to go through the medical check this week.

The Danish defender was close to signing with Chelsea from FC Nordsjælland, in the winter transfer window, but has now chosen Villa as his next destination. Last year, the FCN defender, won the Danish championship as well as the Danish FA Talent of the Year award.

According to Aalborg BK's official website, the Danish club has accepted an offer for their top striker.

Nicklas Helenius might be lost for Aalborg as Aston Villa has made an offer on the club's topscorer. The striker has announced that it is time for him to try something new, and as his has only one year left of his contract, the club has opened for a transfer.

Helenius was the man behind 14 goals in the 2011/12 Danish Superliga, followed up by 16 in the last season. So far he has played 102 matches and scored 40 goals for Aalborg where he has played his entire career.

Neither Aston Villa or Aalborg has commented further on the transfer. Great Dane Football Blog will keep you updated on the latest on the Helenius transfer as well as other Danish talents during the summer. Meanwhile, you can read GDFB's profile of the soon-to-be Aston Villa strike here!
