This week's What's Worth Watching, features four Scandinavian matches!

IFK Göteborg - Helsingborg
Swedish Allsvenskan Round 14
Nya Ullevi
09-07-2012 at 18.05 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

IFK Göteborg: 1 victory / 11 goals

       Draws: 4

 Helsingborg: 5 victory /15 goals

IFK Göteborg is still struggling in the lower part of the league, while Helsingborg still has the chance for qualifying for European football next season. Helsingborg is unbeaten in the last five matches, and with their top scorer, Alfred Finnbogason, upfront they will also win this one. Keep an eye on the young striker from Iceland, as he has the abilities to be decisive in this match.

Odd Grenland - Vålerenga
Norway Tippeligaen Round 12
Odd Stadion
11-07-2012 at 18.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

Odd Grenland: 3 victories / 15 goals

       Draws: 3

   Vålerenga: 4 victories / 19 goals

Odd Grenland and Vålerenga are known for their tight matches. Vålerenga is currently positioned in the middle of the league with some distance to the ‘funny’ positions. Lower in the table is Odd Grenland, and they are still close to relegation and will, therefore, fight for every point. Keep an eye on Fredrik Stoor. The back from Norway has played for Fulham and Derby and is with his routine one of the most important players for Vålerenga.

Aarhus GF - Aalborg BK
Danish Superliga Round 1
NRGi Park
13-07-2012 at 17.30 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

 Aarhus GF: 2 victories / 9 goals

     Draws: 3

Aalborg BK: 5 victories / 14 goals

Friday is the day for the first Derby of Jutland between Aarhus and Aalborg. Aalborg is in serious financial problems and has only brought one new face into the squad, while Aarhus has gathered a strong squad within the last couple of seasons. The Jutland Derby is always worth watching, and can display some great football. Keep an eye on Aarhus’ Casper Sloth. The young midfielder is going to be one of the best in the Danish Superliga!

FC Copenhagen - FC Midtjylland
Danish Superliga Round 1
Parken
15-07-2012 at 18.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

 FC Copenhagen: 6 victories / 20 goals

         Draws: 1

FC Midtjylland: 3 victories / 10 goals

The two teams have often played some tight matches, and thi sone could turn out the same way. Copenhagen has hired the former Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs, and it is going to be interesting if he will make a difference. Midtjylland is in a time of transformation and has sold some of the profiles. The first match will show if there is any difference. Keep an eye on the Copenhagen striker, Dame N’Doye. He is a target for clubs as Newcastle United.

The EURO is over, so now it is time to take a look on the Europa League qualification, Copa Libertadores and the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Djurgården - IFK Göteborg
Swedish Allsvenskan Round 13
Stockholms Stadion
03-07-2012 at 18.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

  Djurgården: 2 victories / 11 goals

       Draws: 3

IFK Göteborg: 5 victories / 15 goals

Both teams are struggling in the lower end of the Swedish league. Something, the two traditional teams, are not familiar with. Djurgården is in most need of three points, and we can expect them to deliver some attacking football.  Keep an eye on Djurgården’s Ricardo Santos. The Brazilian forward has so far scored three goals for his club but have not scored for a while. Now might be the time to start again.

Corinthians - Boca Juniors
Copa Libertadores Final 2. Leg
The New Corinthians Stadium
05-07-2012 at 01.50 BST

Head-to-head (last match):

 Corinthians: 0 victories / 1 goal

       Draws: 1

Boca Juniors: 0 victories / 1 goal

The first leg ended 1-1 between the two teams, leaving Corinthians in the best position. However, BOCA has been in this scenario before and seems to have more routine than their Brazilian opponent. This can turn out to be as tight as the first leg, but BOCA Juniors also have the ability to simply run Corinthians over. Keep an eye on Juan Román Riquelme. The former Villarreal player is one of the top names in BOCA and his form will be important.

Twente - UE Santa Coloma
Europa League Qualification
Arke Stadium
05-07-2012 at 18.45 BST

(Never met before)

Twente is favorites for this match against UE Santa Coloma and should be able to win this without any problems. However, their domestic qualification matches against Waalwijk has not been the most convincing. UE Santa Coloma ended as number three in the Andorra 1. Division, but is not a team that Twente should fear. Keep an eye on Luuk De Jong. Twente’s top striker is on football fans lips these days and has been connected with several English clubs. If he is to stay in Twente for another year, Europa League is crucial for him.

Crusaders - Rosenborg
Europa League Qualification
Foreshore Stadium
05-07-2012 at 20.00 BST

(Never met before)

On paper, Rosenborg should not have any problems against Crusaders, but we have seen Scandinavian teams having problems with Irish clubs before. That said, the Norwegian team has not played their best so far in this season and a European adventure will save some of their honour. Keep an eye on the teenager Markus Henriksen. The central midfielder is a target for Celtic and German clubs and is worth keeping an eye on the next couple of years.

Portugal - Spain
EURO 2012 Semi Final

Head-to-head (last 5 matches):

Portugal: 2 victories / 5 goals

   Draws: 1

   Spain: 2 victories / 6 goals

The meeting between the two neighbours is worth watching. Last time the two teams met, Portugal won 4-0. That was in 2010, and the times have changed. Spain is favorites for this match, and should be able to win this. Portugal's on-man-army Ronaldo is facing Barcelona's starting line in this match. However, you should keep an eye on the Portuguese. Spain are favorites, but Ronaldo has shown that he can win a match by himself.

Boca Juniors - Corinthians
Copa Libertadores Final First Leg
28-06-2012 at 01.50 BST

Head-to-head (last 2 matches):

Boca Juniors: 1 vicory / 4 goals

       Draws: 1

 Corinthians: 1 victory / 2 goals

Boca Juniors and Corinthians are meeting in this year's Copa Libertadores Final. Boca Juniors are favorites against a surprising Corinthians. The team has never qualified for the final. We can expect a match with a high level of technique and some great goals. Keep an eye on Corinthians Danilo. The brazilian left winger has so far scored four goals for his club and will be an important player in the final.

Germany -  Italy
EURO 2012 Semi Final
National Stadium, Warsaw
28-06-2012 at 19.45 BST

Head-to-head (last 4 matches):

Germany: 0 victories / 2 goals

  Draws: 2

  Italy: 2 victories / 6 goals

Italy has a great history against Germany as they have won two of the last four meetings. The other two has ended in a draw. However, at this EURO Germany has so far been the best team. This should set your expectations high before the Semi final as we can expect a match full of attacking football. Keep an eye on Andrea Pirlo in this match. The playmaker has been in top form and the best on the Italian team. His passings will be crucial for Italy.

Viking - Rosenborg
Tippeligaen Round 13
Viking Stadion, Stavanger
30-06-2012 at 19.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

   Viking: 2 victories / 12 goals

    Draws: 3

Rosenborg: 5 victories / 15 goals

Both Viking and Rosenborg has so far been disappointing in the Tippeligaen. Both teams will go into the match with the hope for a win, and especially Rosenborg has something to prove. The two teams met in a friendly in the pre-season. Here, Viking won 4-0. Keep an eye on Steffen Iversen. The veteran striker has so far scored four goals in the league and is the top scorer for Rosenborg.

Semi final #1 - Semi Final #2
EURO 2012 Final
Olympic Stadium, Kiev
01-07-2012 at 19.45 BST

At this time, we don’t know who will be in the EURO 2012 final. However, with the four teams left in the competition we can expect an amazing match. The favorites for this match are Spain and Germany, but with an international tournament, you never know who will win or lose. No matter what, we will see a match with some of Europe’s finest players. Well worth watching!

With the EURO entering the final round of the group stages, this week features exciting matches!

Croatia - Spain
EURO 2012 Group C
Arena Gdansk, Gdansk
18-06-2012 at 19.45

Head-to-head (last 2 matches):

Croatia: 0 victories / 1 goal

  Draws: 1

  Spain: 1 victory / 2 goals

Croatia and Spain will with a 2-2 draw qualify for the Quarter finals, while Italy will be out of the EURO 2012. This scenario has Italy seen before, when Denmark and Sweden played a draw in EURO 2004 and sent the Italians out. Spain has lived up to the expectations, while Croatia has surprised and is currently positioned as runner up for the win. This match is not going to be a draw, as both teams will deliver goals. Croatia has a Mario Mandžukić up front, who so far has scored three goals and is the top scorer in the group. However, Spain has a whole team of goal scorers. We can expect some high class football in this match. I will especially keep an eye on Mandžukić, as he can be the decisive player in this match!

England - Ukraine
EURO 2012 Graoup D
Donbass Arena, Donetsk
19-06-2012 at 19.45

Head-to-head (last 4 matches):

 England: 3 victories / 7 goals

   Draws: 0

Ukraine: 1 victory / 2 goals

Ukraine can with a victory against England end as number two in Group D and qualify for the Quarter finals. However, England is a hard opponent, but they have not played their best EURO. This match can turn out to be exciting, with a Ukraine who will have to attack throughout the match. Wayne Rooney will be back for England, and it will in interesting to see if he will have an impact on the team. Keep an eye on the veteran Andriy Shevchenko. The striker is probably playing his last EURO and will try and take Ukraine as far as possible.

Czech Republic - Portugal
EURO 2012 Quarter finals
National Stadium, Warsaw
21-06-2012 at 19.45

Head-to-head (last meeting):

Czech Republic: 0 victories / 1 goal

         Draws: 0

      Portugal: 1 victory / 3 goals

Many were surprised when the Czech Republic won against Poland and qualified for the Quarter finals. Here, they will meet Portugal who has not played at their best so far. This match can go both ways, but I believe that we will be witnessing a defensive match from the Czechs while Portugal will try and run them over. Keep an eye on Petr Jiracek, as the winger so far has scored two goals for his country. The longhaired Czech has shown to be a valuable player and is taking responsibility on the team.

Germany - Greece
EURO 2012 Quarter finals
Arena Gdansk, Gdansk
22-06-2012 at 19.45

Head-to-head (last 2 matches):

Germany: 2 victories / 6 goals

  Draws: 0

 Greece: 0 victories / 2 goals

As the Czech Republic, Greece surprised many in Group A. Now they are in the Quarter final against Germany, one of the favorite teams for the trophy. Greece will probably play as defensive as we have seen so far, while Germany will play some impressing attacking football. It will be a matter of time before Germany will score the first goal in the match. Keep an eye on Thomas Müller. The young offensive midfielder was one of the best against Denmark and is the future of the German national team.

The EURO is rolling for full steam, and this week features some exciting matches worth watching!

France - England
EURO 2012 Group D
Donbass Arena, Donetsk
11-06-2012 at 17.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 4 matches):

 France: 3 victories / 6 goals

  Draws: 1

England: 0 victories / 3 goals

Historically, France has a good take on England before entering this EURO match. The last four games have ended with three victories to Les Bleus and a single draw. Given the two teams current form France is also favorites for this one. Even though, they on paper have met easier opponents than England. On the other hand, England has only lost against Holland in their friendlies towards the EURO and won some small victories against some of prominent nations. When the two teams meet, they often play some tight matches, and we can expect this one to be just another. I would particular keep an eye on France striker Olivier Giroud. He has had a great season and is in top form. Furthermore, rumors say that the player is on several short lists in the English Premier League, so this might be his time to shine.

Holland - Germany
EURO 2012 Group B
Metalist Stadium, Kharkiv
13-06-2012 at 19.45 BST

Head-to-head (last 5 matches):

Holland: 2 victories / 8 goals

  Draws: 2

Germany: 1 victory / 8 goals

A clash between two of the best football nations in Europe is WORTH WATCHING. Last time the two teams met, Germany won 3-0 by goals of Müller, Klose and Özil. All three are part of the German EURO squad. Holland led a surprising loss against Denmark in the first round, and might be a bit shaken up, while Germany won against Portugal. Holland has to step up to the challenge and win against Germany, or else their EURO will be over before it really started. This match can turn out to be a thriller! Keep an eye on Jérôme Boateng in this match. The defender managed to keep Ronaldo out of the game, when Germany met Portugal, and his performance will be critical for Germany against Holland and their strong offensive.

Sweden - England
EURO Group D
Olympic Stadium, Kiev
15-06-2012 at 19.45 BST

Head-to-head (last 5 matches):

 Sweden: 1 victory / 5 goals

  Draws: 3

England: 1 victory / 5 goals

Sweden and England are two very equal teams. This is supported by the fact that the last five games has ended with one victory and five goals to each nation, and three draws. We can expect another tight match on Thursday. Last time they met, England won 1-0 by an own goal by Daniel Majstorovic, but this time we can expect that both teams will not make mistakes. Keep an eye on young Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if he is put into play. The young wing has the strength to compete with the Scandinavians and can make some precise passing to Carroll’s forehead.

Czech Republic - Poland
EURO Group A
Municipal Stadium, Wroclaw
16-06-2012 at 19.45 BST

Head-to-head (last 3 matches):

Czech Republic: 1 victory / 3 goals

         Draws: 0

        Poland: 2 victories / 4 goals

An East European meeting between the Czech Republic and Poland in group A. This might be the match that can secure Poland a spot in the Quarterfinals, as they seem to be favorites together with Russia. Czech Republic has not lived up to the potential, while Poland has played some nice offensive football. We can expect a hard played match between these two teams, but also a match that guarantee goals. Especially Poland has a first class attacker in Lewandowski, and if he is feed with assists he will be decisive. Keep an eye on young Rafał Wolski if he is put into the match. The young midfielder has  real potential to be one of the next great Polish players.

Denmark - Germany
EURO Group B
Arena Lviv, Lviv
17-06-2012 at 19.45 BST

Head-to-head (last 3 matches):
Denmark: 2 victories / 5 goals

  Draws:1

Germany: 0 victories / 3 goals

The two neighbors meet in a clash that might send either Denmark or Holland out of the EURO. My bet will be that Denmark has either had a draw or a win against Portugal by now, while Germany has won against Holland. Denmark will do whatever they can to beat Germany, and they have a good take on them. The last three matches have ended with two victories and a draw for the Danes. However, Germany starting line is strong, and compared to Denmark they are favorites. We can also expect Germany to be the leading team in this match, as Denmark probably will sit back and wait for their chance rather than rushing into the German defends. Keep an eye on William Kvist in the match. The Danish midfielder will be a controlling force for the Danes and his knowledge to the German Bundesliga might be decisive.
