Michael Laudrup got much stick for the lack of discipline in the Swansea squad during his last months in the club. Now, Garry Monk is facing the same problems at the Landore Complex.

In January it was revealed that Chico Flores had picked up a brick during a row with Monk, back when monk was still active as a player. Just two weeks after Laudrup was sacked. Since then, Monk has taken over as an interim-manager, and now  the dressing room has been ripped apart by in-fighting between the players once again.

According to the Daily Mail, Monk had organised a training game trying to get the Hull defeat out of the system. However, the plan was undermined by a training ground fight involving not less than six first-team players. To make the situation even worse for Monk, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins witnessed the clash.

Monk is trying to repair the relations between the players and united the squad in order to avoid relegation, but it seems that, as Laudrup, Monk has problems controlling the players.

One of the reasons for the lack of discipline should accordingly be that the number of high earners brought in last summer has affected the morale in the dressing room. Michael Laudrup and Huw Jenkins had their debates over the players brought in, and even though Jenkins had a say in most of the transfers he is now ready to make a number of strategic changes in the summer.

After the weekends win against Norwich, Fulham can bring themselves above the relegation line with a win against Spurs, but the hosts need three points in their hunt for European football next season.

Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham FC
Premier League Round 35
White Hart Lane
19-04-2013 @ 12.45 UK

How are the two teams form?

Tottenham came behind with three in just 31 minutes against West Brom in the weekend but managed to comeback and play a draw. Spurs are now sixth in the league, four points after Arsenal on the fifth.

Fulham is eyeing survival in the Premier League after their victory against Norwich now means they are only two points under the relegation line. The Cottagers have now won their last two matches before visiting White Hart Lane.

The last ten meetings between the two sides have ended with seven victories to Tottenham.

What are the probable line-ups?

Everton are without Etienne Capoue, Michael Dawson, Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker due to injuries. Furthermore, Moussa Dembélé and Sandro are both rated doubtful for the match. Fulham are also struggling with injuries as Matthew Briggs, Damien Duff and Kostas Mitroglou are all out. Cauley Woodrow is rated doubtful.

Lloris

Naughton - Chiriches - Kaboul - Rose

Lennon - Paulinho - Chadli - Eriksen

Kane - Adebayor
___________________________________

Woodrow

Kasami - Diarra - Reither - Sidwell - Dejagah

Richardson - Amorebieta - Hangeland - Heitinga

Stockdale

What to expect from this match?

Tottenham are the favorites and should, on paper, be able to take a win against Fulham. However, The Cottagers have played well against better teams this season and given they are in desperate need of points they will fight with all they got. Last time the two sides met Lewis Holtby scored for Spurs, at the moment he is on loan at Fulham, but he will not be playing against his owner-club. Spurs have a good take on Fulham and this could be a match where we will see a goal from Christian Eriksen, securing a 2-1 to Tottenham.

What are the odds?

SkyBet offers an 8/15 odds on a Tottenham victory while Ladbrokes offers a Fulham victory to odds 6. A draw gives 7/2 at BetVictor.

He might have taken a step down from the best Danish league, but for this week's talent it is only a matter of time before he is back in the Superliga, and till then he is just doing his best to develop as a footballer. This week we keep an eye on Christopher Geertsen of FC Fredericia.

He was only ten when he was brought in from Helsted Fremad, one of Randers FC's satellite clubs to help Randers FC in their youth Danish Championship tournament. The team won the tournament, and Geertsen had left such a great impression on the coach that he stayed in Randers throughout his youth years. In fact, he became a profile on the teams he played for, and was a part of the Danish national youth teams, as well.

All young Danish footballers dream of becoming professional, and that dream reached Geertsen when he was only thirteen; Feyenoord wanted him to join the club:

We attended a youth tournament in Den Haag and I became the best player, and a week after Feyenoord called Randers’ head of talents and asked if I could come on a week’s trial. I came for a couple of days to see how the environment was, and then they came to Denmark to watch me play, and then I was down there for two weeks," the talent tells.

"I thought it was great to come to such a big club and train with such good players; I played against Jack Wilshere and Arsenal in a friendly, and that is when you start dreaming of making it in football. They wanted me to join them, but neither the club [Randers] and I were interested at the time.”

Instead, Geertsen stayed in Randers throughout his Junior years, and was promoted to the senior squad when the club was still playing in the Danish 1. Division. By the age of 17, he was given his debut in the light blue shirt, and only a year after he signed his first senior contract leading to seven matches in the second best division, in Denmark. However, the adventure in Randers stalled when Michael Hemmingsen, the manager that had believed in Geertsen was sacked just as the club returned to the Danish Superliga.

Instead, the former Sunderland and Derby Country defender Colin Todd took over.

"Colin [Todd] came to the club, and at the time it didn’t seem as there was any space for me, but there are no hard feelings towards Randers," Geertsen says about the change of manager.

Geertsen decided to look for a new club, and was handed a two-year contract after a trial with FC Fredericia from the Danish 1. Divison. While some might see his change as a step down, the talent believes it is a step up considering the lack of match time he got in Randers.

“As a young player you need a lot of match time, and if you can’t get that in the best league then you take a step down. I feel that Fredericia is a good club that wants to achieve something, and I feel that the 1. Division is a good division to play in,” Geertsen says,
“Because I am playing more here, I feel that I have developed more in Fredericia than during my senior year at Randers, so for me it is not a step down.”

In his eight months, in Fredericia, Geertsen has played 19 matches and is becoming a regular name on the match sheet, and the talent is not in a hurry to leave his new club, although he is looking to return to the Danish Superliga within a couple of years.

“Fredericia wants to develop me and get the best out of me, and I hope that it can bring me back to the best league in Denmark," he says and finishes off the interview with a talk about going abroad.
“Without a doubt [would I like to play abroad], but you need to crawl before you can walk, so I am taking it step by step, and I would rather return to the Superliga before an adventure abroad and I just only turned 21.”

It  is Friday and nearly weekend, and that means it is time to look back on this week's football events and highlights.

Tuesday April 8th - Demba Ba sends Chelsea on in the Champions League

They were behind 1-3 before the match, and most experts had already put Chelsea in the grave. However, Chelsea wanted it different and especially Demba Ba tried to convince Mourinho that he is still worth keeping in the squad. However, it was Schürrle who scored the first goal after an assist from David Luiz, and PSG didn't seem to be able to answer back. If it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing due to an injury, or the players just thought they could walk the victory home is hard to say. However, with just three minutes to go Ba paid back Mourinho's trust sending Chelsea on to the semifinals.

Wednesday April 9th - Hull name change

He wants it so badly, Assem Allam, to change Hull City to Hull Tigers, despite strong opposition from fans. However, the FA has now - for the second time - decided to decline his proposal meaning that Allam can not protest against the decision. The Egyptian has earlier this year threatened to leave the club if he failed to be granted permission for his name switch. Will the fans finally get rid of their number one target?

Wednesday April 9th - Manchester United are out

After 1-1 at Old Trafford, Manchester United fans were hoping their team could surprise once again at Allianz Arena and send Bayern Munich out in the cold. After a rather boring first half where none of the teams looked as they were there to win - Munich could settle with 0-0 result - things started taking speed in the second half. First Patrice Evra scored a goal of a lifetime giving the fans hopes and believe in a semifinal, but less than two minutes after Mandzukic killed the hope. Manchester kept trying and that opened for first Müller and then Robben to finish off Manchester United's Champions League adventure.

Wednesday April 9th - Barca are also out!

Atletico Madrid's win against Barcelona ended the Catalan's unprecedented run of reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for six consecutive seasons. However, the Barcelona players were outplayed by an Atletico side in great form who deserved the win more than the Catalans did. A player as Lionel Messi was very disappointing and  only ran about 6km - the same as José Manuel Pinto in the goal. Koke gave Atletico the lead after just five minutes, and the Madrilenes kept the lead till the end of the match. Could Atletico win the Champions League this season?

Friday April 11th - Cardiff accuse Crystal Palace of spying

Controversial Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan have written to the Premier League accusing former Head of Recruitment Iain Moody, who is not Sporting Director at Palace of spying. According to Tan, Moody should have used contacts at the club to ascertain the starting line-up before the sides met on Saturday. After the 0-3 loss to the Eagles, Tan wrote to Premier League chief Richard Scudamore demanding an investigation, but the Premier League have told Cardiff to make a formal complaint if they wish to take things further.

Cardiff lost yet another time and are now six point under the relegation line before visiting Southampton who is looking to comeback from their 1-4 humiliation against Manchester City. The Saints are nine points after Manchester United and are will more or less have to settle with a mid-table position, after an exciting start of the season. Southampton won the last meeting between the two sides, and they are the favorites against a struggling Cardiff who are in desperate need of three points.

Stoke City v Newcastle United
Britannia Stadium
12-04-2014 @ 15.07 UK

Stoke City (4-2-3-1): Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters; N'Zonzi, Whelan; Odemwingie, Ireland, Arnautovic; Crouch.

Stoke was left chanceless against a strong Chelsea last round, and are the favorites against a Newcastle that haven't won in four consecutive matches. That said, Newcastle have met some of the teams in the best form and will be hoping to chance the situation against Stoke and bring them above Southampton. However, the front line is still struck by injuries to both Sam Ameobi and Loïc Remy why The Toons will be struggling to find the goal. Stoke are favorites and are unbeaten in five home matches, this might be the sixth.

Sunderland v Everton
Stadium of Light

Everton's impressing season is getting better after their win against Arsenal last week. The Toffees are just one point from the Champions League given fourth in the table before visiting Stadium of Light. Sunderland have not won in seven consecutive matches and are not left with many chances against Lukaku and company. With eight points up to safety the need three points, but Everton are just too good at the moment.

West Bromwich v Tottenham
The Hawthorne

Tottenham won 5-1 on Monday and are just five points behind Everton before meeting West Brom, only five points above the relegation line. Tim Sherwood is hoping to convince the Spurs board that he is worth taking a chance with, and a comfortable win is just a step on the way. Spurs still have the chance of European football next season while West Brom are hoping just to stay in the Premier League. A win against Tottenham will be vital, and given Spurs current injury situation West Brom could perhaps take at least one point at home.

Fulham v Norwich
Craven Cottage
12-04-2014 @ 15.07 UK

Fulham (4-5-1): Stockdale; Heitinga, Hangeland, Amorebieta, Richardson; Holtby, Sidwell, Reither, Diarra, Kasami; Rodallega.

Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Yobo, Bassong, Olsson; Snodgrass, Tettey, Howson, Hoolahan; Elmander, Hooper.

Injuries: Elliott Bennett (Knee), Leroy Fer (Hamstring) Doubts: None Bans: None.

Fulham took an important win against Aston Villa last week, and is hoping to take a step towards safety with a win against Norwich. The Canaries sacked Chris Hughton on Monday and the youth coach Neil Adams has taken over. It will be interesting to see if Adams can change anything against Fulham. The Cottagers are favorites at home, but Norwich might have the effect of a new manager on their side.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa
Selhurst Park
12-04-2014 @ 15.07 UK

Crystal Palace (4-4-1-1): Speroni; Mariappa, Dann, Delaney, Ward; Puncheon, Jedinak, Dikgacoi, Bolasie; Ledley; Chamakh.

Crystal Palace is looking forward to another season in the best company and are side by side with their opponents Aston Villa. Villa lost against Fulham last week and their season is more or less settled to be another one in the more dull end of the table. That said a win against Crystal Palace on Saturday would bring them above Hull. However, Crystal Palace won the last meeting between the two sides and are also favorites at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Liverpool v Manchester City
Anfield Road
13-04-2014 @ 13.37 UK

Liverpool (4-1-2-1-2): Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan; Gerrard; Henderson, Allen; Coutinho; Sturridge, Suárez.

Injuries: Sebastián Coates (Knee), Enrique (Knee) Doubts: Daniel Agger (Knee) Bans: None.

Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Hart; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Kompany, Clichy; Fernandinho, Touré; Navas, Silva, Nasri; Aguero.

Injuries: Matija Nastasic (Knee) Doubts: Sergio Aguero (Muscle), Yaya Toure (Knock) Bans: None.

It is without a doubt match of the week when Liverpool and Manchester City clash at Anfield Road. Liverpool have played brilliantly this season and are top of the league while Manchester City are third, four points behind Liverpool. It is hard to pick a favorite in this match as both sides have some dangerous offensive players. However, The Sturridge/Suárez partnership have created 49 goals so far this season, and they will also punish Manchester City.

Swansea v Chelsea
Liberty Stadium
13-04-2014 @ 16.07 UK

Swansea (4-2-3-1): Vorm; Rangel, Williams, Chico, Davis; Shelvey, Britton; Dyer, Michu, Routledge; Bony.

Injuries: Kyle Bartley (Hamstring) Doubts: None Bans: None.

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Luiz, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Schürrle; Ba.

Injuries: Samuel Eto'o (Hamstring), John Obi Mikel (Knock) Doubts: Eden Hazard (Calf), Marco van Ginkel (Lack of match fitness)

Chelsea are second in the table and only two points behind Liverpool. A victory against a struggling Swansea lies in the cards, but Chelsea have messed up before, latest against Crystal Palace. Swansea lost their last match at home against Hull and the magic seems to be lost for the Welsh side. Chelsea should win this match comfortable.

Arsenal v West Ham
Emirates Stadium
15-04-2014 @ 19.45 UK

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Monreal; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arteta; Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski; Giroud.

Injuries: Abou Diaby (Knee), Laurent Koscielny (Calf), Ryo Miyachi (Hamstring), Mesut Ozil (Hamstring), Theo Walcott (Knee), Jack Wilshere (Foot) Doubts: Lukasz Fabianski (Illness), Kieran Gibbs (Ankle), Serge Gnabry (Knee) Bans: Mathieu Flamini.

West Ham (4-2-3-1): Adrián; Demel, Tomkins, Reid, Armero; Noble, Taylor; Diamé, Nolan, Downing; Carroll.

Injuries: Marco Boriello (Hamstring), Joey O'Brien (Shoulder dislocation) Doubts: James Collins (Calf), George McCartney (Hamstring) Bans: None.

Arsenal is looking worse than ever before during this season, and a win against West Ham is vital if they want to play Champions League next season. West Ham have more or less secured another season in the Premier League, even though they lost to Liverpool last week. Despite their poor form Arsenal are the favorites as West Ham have not won against The Gunners since 2008.
