This week's What's Worth Watching, features four Scandinavian matches!

IFK Göteborg - Helsingborg
Swedish Allsvenskan Round 14
Nya Ullevi
09-07-2012 at 18.05 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

IFK Göteborg: 1 victory / 11 goals

       Draws: 4

 Helsingborg: 5 victory /15 goals

IFK Göteborg is still struggling in the lower part of the league, while Helsingborg still has the chance for qualifying for European football next season. Helsingborg is unbeaten in the last five matches, and with their top scorer, Alfred Finnbogason, upfront they will also win this one. Keep an eye on the young striker from Iceland, as he has the abilities to be decisive in this match.

Odd Grenland - Vålerenga
Norway Tippeligaen Round 12
Odd Stadion
11-07-2012 at 18.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

Odd Grenland: 3 victories / 15 goals

       Draws: 3

   Vålerenga: 4 victories / 19 goals

Odd Grenland and Vålerenga are known for their tight matches. Vålerenga is currently positioned in the middle of the league with some distance to the ‘funny’ positions. Lower in the table is Odd Grenland, and they are still close to relegation and will, therefore, fight for every point. Keep an eye on Fredrik Stoor. The back from Norway has played for Fulham and Derby and is with his routine one of the most important players for Vålerenga.

Aarhus GF - Aalborg BK
Danish Superliga Round 1
NRGi Park
13-07-2012 at 17.30 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

 Aarhus GF: 2 victories / 9 goals

     Draws: 3

Aalborg BK: 5 victories / 14 goals

Friday is the day for the first Derby of Jutland between Aarhus and Aalborg. Aalborg is in serious financial problems and has only brought one new face into the squad, while Aarhus has gathered a strong squad within the last couple of seasons. The Jutland Derby is always worth watching, and can display some great football. Keep an eye on Aarhus’ Casper Sloth. The young midfielder is going to be one of the best in the Danish Superliga!

FC Copenhagen - FC Midtjylland
Danish Superliga Round 1
Parken
15-07-2012 at 18.00 BST

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

 FC Copenhagen: 6 victories / 20 goals

         Draws: 1

FC Midtjylland: 3 victories / 10 goals

The two teams have often played some tight matches, and thi sone could turn out the same way. Copenhagen has hired the former Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs, and it is going to be interesting if he will make a difference. Midtjylland is in a time of transformation and has sold some of the profiles. The first match will show if there is any difference. Keep an eye on the Copenhagen striker, Dame N’Doye. He is a target for clubs as Newcastle United.

What's worth watching this week?
Week 16

Great Dane Football Blog - UK Edition gives a view on what's worth watching in football. This week features a Danish and English derby as well as Champions League football.  A great week for football fans!

Aarhus GF - Aalborg BK
Danish Superliga Round 26
NRGi Park
16-04-2012 at 18.00 UTC/GMT + 1

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

 Aarhus GF: 3 victories / 10 goals

     Draws: 2

Aalborg BK: 5 sejre / 14 goals

The classic derby between two of Denmark’s oldest clubs. Aarhus GF and Aalborg BK have been rivals as  long as one can remember, and fans of AaB are defiantly not happy with AGF above them in the league. After Aalborg BK’s 3-1 victory against Silkeborg last week, positions them as number seven. Only one point away from AGF ranked as 5th. Both clubs can bring themselves closer to the position as 4th which opens for the Europa League Qualifications. A tremendous achievement for the two clubs as Aarhus GF was promoted from the 1. Division this season and Aalborg BK cleared from relegation is the last minute of last season. This could be a goal show, with AaB striker Nicklas Helenius and AGF striker Peter Graulund in top form. Worth watching!

Bayern Munich - Real Madrid
Champions League Semi Finals First Leg
Allianz Arena
17-04-2012 at 19.45 UTC/GMT + 1

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

Bayern Munich: 5 victories / 12 goals

        Draws: 2

  Real Madrid: 3 victories / 11 goals

Last time these two teams met in Champions League 1/8 finals was in 2007. Back then Bayern Munich went on to the quarter finals after a 3-2 loss and a 2-1 win. Tuesday night, the Germans can do it again. However, Real Madrid is in great form and has scored seventeen goals within the last five matches, and the question is if Munich can hold Ronaldo away from the goal. I am really looking forward to this one and  believe that this could be one of the best matches this year. Take a look!

Chelsea FC - Barcelona
Champions League Semi Finals First Leg
Stamford Bridge
18-04-2012 at 19.45 UTC/GMT + 1

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

Chelsea FC: 3 victories / 15 goals

     Draws: 4

 Barcelona: 3 victories / 16 goals

These two teams fit each other incredible well and have played some enjoyable matches in the Champions League playoffs through time. However, with Chelsea’s form curve going up and down as another rollercoaster, Barcelona should be able to win this. That said, Chelsea has won 3 out of 5 matches against Barcelona on Stamford Bridge. Even though Barcelona is favourites the semi finals Chelsea could surprise. Champions League is going to be great this week!

Arsenal - Chelsea FC
Premier League Round 35
Emirates Stadium
21-04-2012 at 12.45 UTC/GMT + 1

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

   Arsenal: 4 victories / 14 goals

     Draws: 0 draws

Chelsea FC: 6 victories / 20 goals

Chelsea twice in a week may be a bit too much, but the London derby is not to be missed. Once again Chelsea seems to be underdogs, but they can surprise against Arsenal. The two London teams have not played a draw in ten matches, and we can expect goals and intense battles on the midfield of Emirates Stadium. The most interesting in this match is if Robin Van Persie can keep up his goal form when it really matters. Defiantly worth watching!

FC Cologne - VfB Stuttgart
1. Bundesliga Round 32
Rhein Energy Stadium
21-04-2012 at 14.30 UTC/GMT + 1

Head-to-head (last 10 matches):

   FC Cologne: 4 victories / 15 goals

        Draws: 3

VfB Stuttgart: 3 victories / 18 goals

An onesided match but a match full of goals. Cologne has had a terrible season and sacked manager Ståle Solbakken two weeks ago. So far, this has not changed anything as Mönchengladbach drove over them last round. VfB Stuttgart is in a goal scoring form with fourteen goals in the last five matches. There is no doubt that Stuttgart will win this match. The question is by how many goals? I look forward to a German goal show on Saturday.

A Merseyside Derby in the FA Cup, with Liverpool as favorite. The last meeting between the two teams ended with a 3-0 victory to Liverpool, but I doubt this will happen again. Liverpool is without Pepe Reina and second keeper Doni, leaving a lot of responsibility on the third keeper Brad Jones. Everton is in good form at the moment and may be too large a mouthful for a weak Liverpool team. Last time the two teams met in the FA Cup, Everton won 1-0 in overtime. I’m putting my money on Everton in this match. They simply seems stronger at the moment.

A top clash in the German Bundesliga. Dortmund is heading for their second championship in a row, and no one seems to be able to stop them. Schalke is currently positioned as number three in the German Bundesliga, and a win will be vital for them, to keep Mönchengladbach off distance. Dortmund has not lost in five matches, and I do not see them loosing this one. They are unbeaten in the last twenty-four matches, and no one is going to stop them. Dortmund wins.

This weekend’s second FA Cup semifinal is between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC. The bookmakers have kept the odds pretty close, and it can be hard to see which of the team will win this. The last two meetings between the teams ended in a draw, and this one might as well. Both team will do everything to win this, as they both could be out of the silverware battle in the Premier League. However, I am afraid this match could be a deadlock and therefore I would put my money on a draw.

Danish Superliga

The classic Jutland Derby between AGF and Aalborg BK.  AGF is back in the Danish Superliga after a season in the 1. Division, while Aalborg cleared from relegation in the last minute last year. Aalborg has started the season in great form, but has fallen apart and is currently positioned as number seven; while AGF is positioned as number five. Aalborg won last week against Silkeborg on a hattrick from Nicklas Helenius while AGF had a draw against FC Copenhagen. Helenius could play a vital part of this match as well, if he can keep up his goal form from the last match; however, the two teams often plays very tight matches. I think Aalborg could win a small victory against AGF, but it is going to be really tight.
