Arsenal's André Santos was charged for speeding, this week. However, the Brazilian is not the first crime rider in English football. Great Dane Football Blog takes a look on the five worst criminal minds!


5. Vinnie Jones

Vinnie Jones was not only a hard man on the pitch, but also in his spare time. While he played for Queens Park Rangers, the Welsh was sentenced a £300 fine and 100 hours community service after he assaulted his neighbor. After his retirement from professionel football, he was also sentenced 80 hours of community service, and fined with £500 after an air rage. Today, the Welsh is known as a TV-star, author and singer.

4. Gary Charles

The former Aston Villa defender, and now Lincoln City coach Gary Charles has not always been on the right side of the law. After his retirement as player, Charles was sentenced with drunk driving, breach of bail conditions (removed his electronic tag, to go on holiday), assault  occasioning actual bodily harm and assault. After one of the hearings, the former defender admitted he had an on-going drink problem.


3. Peter Storey

Peter Storey was a respected man on the 60's and 70's Arsenal team. However, after his career ended, the midfielder has been more interested in crime than football. The 66-year old Storey has been sentenced for running a brothel, car theft, counterfeiting, smuggling pornographic movies and disorderly behaviour. All together, the former Arsenal and Fulham player has spent five years and eight months in prison!

2. Marlon King

Taking a look at Marlon King's criminal record makes you wonder if he ever plays football. The Jamaican started his criminal career while playing for Barnet, Gillingham F.C., Watford F.C., and Wigan the player has been sentenced for nine criminal matters. The Jamaican has done everything from sexual assault to handling stolen cars and credit card fraud.





1. Gavin Grant

Even though, Gavin Grant only has one sentence on his mind, it is the worst possible. In 2005, he was accused of murdering Jahmall Moore, but was cleared in 2007. However, in 2010 the winger was found guilty of killing the 21-year old Leon Labastide in May 2004. Grant received a life sentence.
