Laudrup is a part of the past in Swansea, and Garry Monk have taken over for now. However, Swansea are looking for a new manager for the long run; Great Dane Football Blog takes a look on five prospects.

5. Garry Monk

The defender - and now manager - have spent a lifetime in Swansea, and could well keep the job after this season. Especially if he manages to keep the Swans out of the relegation. However, it speaks against Monk that he is/has been a part of the squad as he can get too familiar with the players. Furthermore, he has no managing experience, but, again, if he manages to keep the club in the Premier League he has a good chance of staying as manager.

4. Marcel Desailly

The former Chelsea defender and World Cup and Euro winner has been linked with Swansea after Laudrup's exit. The 45-year old Ghana born French ended his career in Qatar SC in 2006 and have not had any manager jobs so far. Instead, he has been working for several media and charities the last couple of years. Swansea could be a good start of his managing career, but as with Garry Monk, it speaks against the French that he has no managing experience. That said, he has a lot of routine from playing and is rated as one of the legends in football.

3. Oscar Garcia

The Brighton and Hove Albion manager has been linked with Swansea and is by some media seen as a man that can bring Nou Camp to South Wales. The 40-year old Spanish manager has a past in Israel football where he managed Maccabi Tel Aviv, as well as a past as youth coach in Barcelona. It speaks for Garcia that he is Spanish, considering the amount of Spanish players in Swansea. To add to that, his way of playing football suits the players in the current squad. However, it can be a problem that he just signed with Brighton last summer.

2. Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona and Real Madrid player has been managing since 2008, where he started with Barcelona B. Since then he has been manager of Roma and is currently in Celta Vigo since last year. Like with Oscar Garcia, it speaks for him that he is Spanish and his way of football suits the current squad. Furthermore, he is a big name in Spain why he might be able to attract players. But, as with Garcia, Enrique only just signed with Celta Vigo last summer.

1. Glenn Hoodle

The former England manager was sounded about the job three months ago, but would not be involved as long as Laudrup was the manager. The former Tottenham and Chelsea midfielder and manager is an obvious choice for Swansea, given his knowledge of the Premier League. However, the league has changed since Hoodle was in charge of a PL club. Furthermore, Hoodles style might not match the players in Swansea as the squads is now.

Yesterday Swansea sent Manchester United out of the FA Cup, but the Red Devils can take revenge on Saturday when the two sides meet at Old Trafford for the second match in a week.

Manchester United v Swansea City
Barclay Premier League Round 21
Old Trafford

How are the two teams form?

After a winning streak of four matches in a row Manchester United lost 2-1 against Tottenham last round and against Swansea in the FA Cup. The Red Devils were beginning to find a great form and finds themselves only four points from top five. However, a win is needed against Swansea on Saturday to keep up the trail.

Swansea are thirteenth in the Premier League only four points from the relegation zone. Michael Laudrups troops have not won in their last six league matches why the FA Cup win against Manchester United yesterday was a late Christmas present for the fans.

What are the probable starting line ups?

Manchester United will have to do with out Fabio who is serving a ban while Fellaini, Nani and Van Persie, are all out with injuries. Furthermore, Ferdinand, Jones, Rafael and Rooney are rated doubtful for the match. Swansea are without Dyer, Michu, Monk and Vorm while there are doubts about Hernández and Lamah.

De Gea

Smalling - Vidic - Evans - Evra

Cleverley - Carrick

Valencia - Rooney - Januzaj

Welbeck

Hernández - Shelvey - Routledge

Davies - Chico - Williams - Rangel

What to expect from this match?

Both teams are in need of three points, so one of the two sides will stand back in this match. Despite the result from last night, United should be favorites, especially given Swansea's current form. They might be struggling with injuries, but on paper the squad is still better than Swansea. That said, the Swans came back last night and will be eager to take two wins in a week at Old Trafford. I expect Manchester to be the dominant side in this match while Swansea will be living on counter-attacks.

What are the odds?

William Hill holds a 1/2 bet on a Manchester United win while a draw gives 7/2 at BetVictor. The best bet for a Swansea win is 15/2 from Coral.

Swansea City is taking on Manchester United in the first match of the upcoming Premier League season. Not less than 8 players have joined Swansea while David Moyes has taken over in Manchester after Sir Alex Fergusons retirement. Match of the week is between Swansea City and Manchester United.

English Premier League - Round 1
Libery Stadium, Swansea

How are the two teams form?

Swansea City have done well in their pre-season matches winning all 7. Furthermore, the Welsh went through to the next round of the Europa League Qualifications with an 4-0 win over two matches against Malmö FF.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has lost 2 of their 6 pre-season matches and against some rather poor teams. However, Manchester United is known to make some rather weak performances in their pre-season matches.

Swansea still have not won a match against Manchester United, as last season's meetings ended with a draw and three losses.

What will the probable starting XI look?

According to the latest reports Swansea have all players ready for the first match of the season, while Rooney and Powell are doubtful for Manchester United.

Vorm

Rangel - Williams - Chico - Davies

Routledge - Britton - Shelvey - Hernandez

Michu

Bony

van Persie

Kagawa

Nani - Carrick - Cleverley - Zaha

Evra - Ferdinand - Vidic - Jones

De Gea

What to expect from this match?

Swansea have brought in some exciting reinforcements as Wilfried Bony and Jonjo Shelvey, and they will be important if Swansea is to get the same success as last season. However, against a Manchester United team that has not changed much since last season, I only see United as winners of this match. Swansea can only hope that the Manchester United players will have some problems playing under a new manager.

Despite this, I believe we will see a well played match with chances in both ends. Wilfried Bony will do everything to show that Laudrup brought him to the Premier League to score goals, and along with Michu they can be a deadly combination. That said, the defends still looks a little leggy why I believe that Manchester United will win this match with a 3-0 score.

What are the odds?

BETVICTOR offers a 20/21 bet for a Manchester United while a Swansea City match gives a 19/5 at StanJames.

Michael Laudrup continued his impressing season in Swansea, bringing the League Cup Trophy to Swansea. The Dane has a history of leaving clubs faster than a Mario Balotelli can get a booking; is he leaving Wales?

Laudrup is a legend in European football, and a legend will always be surrounded by rumours. Latest, Laudrup was on his way to Real Madrid, then Manchester City but Wales seems to be the place for the Dane.

Despite having a history of changing between European clubs, the Swansea manager has already said that he is ready to sign a new contract with the Welsh club. The latest results show that Swansea play style and Laudrup's name are a great mix that might get far. However, a lot needs to happen before the Welsh will be found in top three of the Premier League.

The question is if the manager will get an offer he cannot refuse. Manchester City and Real Madrid might be able to give the Laudrup free hands to buy who ever he wants. However, the pressure on the two teams might just be too much for the Dane. Furthermore, in Swansea Laudrup has the board's confidence and he will have to screw up big time to lose his seat in Wales.

The League Cup was Laudrup's first big trophy since leaving Brøndby in 2006, and he will be thirsty for more. At the moment,  Swansea is the place for Laudrup and here he has the impact he wants to have; latest bringing in Morten Wieghorts to the staff. The next season will be even more interesting than this as Laudrup will have to show that this was not just a  one time performance. Then, we can talk about Manchester City and Real Madrid.
